THE ONE TRUE LIGHT

Last weekend my Pastor taught on Mark 2, where Jesus heals the paralyzed man. I’ve heard this taught before and I’ve also studied it myself, but after listening to the Pastor, something changed inside of me….I see the world differently, recognizing how many people are actually paralyzed.

The Pastor said, “We need Jesus, it all starts there.” And the sad part is most people don’t know Him. They don’t even know that they are paralyzed; much less know that Jesus can heal them. They think that this is JUST the way life is and they JUST have to deal with it…struggling on their own. I know this because I use to be one of those people.

I had a conversation with someone yesterday who reminded me a lot of how I used to be, how I use to live, and how I use to see things. Although our circumstances are a little different, the rest is so right on.

Struggles with smoking….quitting….smoking…Get It? Body image, boyfriend (and having sex), being raised catholic and not wanting anything to do with God, not knowing anything about Him except the perception of a ceremonial and punishing God, and being lost, insecure and scared…..in other words, PARALYZED and not even knowing it. And unfortunately we may also be paralyzing our children as well.

There are so many beautiful people, who are children of God and whom Jesus died for, living in darkness and have no idea that He is waiting to heal them with open arms. As a Christ follower, I know His arms because I have experienced them. It is a burden on my heart to see so many paralyzed people who live in the dark by themselves. They are constantly feeling around for a temporary light switch that never stays lit. We need to find a way to show them the ONE TRUE LIGHT. We must never give up on them….it is a matter of their LIFE or DEATH. It is a matter of their ETERNITY.

Father, please give me a panoramic view of all that is around me. Of all the hurting people who do not know You. God, please shine your light through me and give me the words to help them see. In Jesus name, Amen.

Amen! Realize too, Jena, that there is only so much we can do. People have their own choices to make. I'm glad we have chosen to follow the light and, yes, I wish others would too.... Luke 11:33 No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead, he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.

Never looked at Mark 2 in this light. Let me chew on this a little while. :-)

This is powerful. I have been paralyzed in many parts of my life. Jesus was our example of loving someone where they are and no matter what has them paralyzed. I sense God has gifted you with empathy to know and experience the pain and suffering of others. God will use your empathy in a powerful way--let Him have His way in you.

Blessings in the name of Jesus.
